Alice in Wonderland is the theme for RNIB's Literary Wonderland held on the banks of the Thames with five creative areas set-up to offer multi-sensory story experiences. With a host of authors and celebrities, the aim is to bring awareness of reading services available to blind people and ensure kids who are unable to see can still experience the wonder of literature.

Autumn Celebration at Sadler's Wells

We're so pleased the BRB are back in London as they have a knack for creating ballets that are accessible to kids with great sets and costumes. This production combines Shakespeare, Noël Coward and the Olympics into one exciting show. Hummingbird Bakery is around the corner or the excellent Coffeeworks Project is just behind Angel Tube.

Science Museum LIVE

It may be half-term, but educational mayhem such as this will be considered theatrical entertainment by school children rather than school-like. It's an interactive performance with experiments, explosions and mind-boggling facts. There are also many events planned over half-term, and the new V&A exhibit is next door (see below).

We've been anxiously awaiting this exhibition and are very keen to see Dorothy's sparkly ruby slippers (only on show for four weeks), Jack Sparrow's pirate gear as well as the Spiderman and Superman suits. Film make-up workshop for older kids looks like great fun too and just in time for Halloween. Added bonus: Fernandez & Wells; one of London's best coffee shops is opening at the V&A on Monday.

Keeping with the Halloween theme albeit with a very sweet witch. Another terrific Julia Donaldson book brought to life on stage and it is utterly impossible to not enjoy. Tall Stories create wonderful productions for children - if you can't make this one, they will be in the West End from 21st November over the holidays.

Too Many Penguins at the Polka

A cute production especially created for pre-schoolers with a loner Polar Bear and a hyper-active bouncy penguin. Exploring relationships with more than a little resemblance to parent / child interaction. Gorgeous little props and fun music with interactive elements for kids to participate. There are also special toddler shows scheduled.

Fantasia at The Royal Albert Hall

Most generations will have seen this 1940's Walt Disney classic, but never quite like this. The screening will be accompanied by London Philharmonic Orchestra in the stunning surroundings of The Royal Albert Hall - fabulous! Over half-term, older kids can attend a Victorian back-stage tour of the building - usually only open to school trips so a great opportunity.
