Depending on when you can make it, All Cats Are Grey are hosting a screenprinting workshop on Saturday and on Sunday, super-duper kids magazine OKIDO will be inspiring little ones to get creative. Part of London Design Festival.

When it comes to design, it is never to early to expose and teach kids how to look at and appreciate others creativity. Design inspiration of every imaginable format and colour will be on show. Furniture, textiles (we love Chris Houghton's Node rugs), books, accessories - oh the possibilities! Design Junction is also worth visiting - lots of beautiful wood.

Open House London is back with another opportunity to peek into private places and spaces usually reserved for very few. This was such a hit last year with the cutest dog show and family friendly atmosphere. This year will see more fun-filled events including a petting zoo, catwalk, Tug of war, kid's fancy dress parade, dancing, music and great food (or pop into Pizarro for some great snacks).

A designer led workshop creating artworks from natural dyes made of cabbages and beets - very back to basics in a good way. Have a peek at the Bloomberg Commission's gorgeous golden tree and mini forest in the gallery. Tent London (see above) is a few blocks away.

Axel Scheffler is one of kids books most recognisable illustration talents having drawn the Gruffalo, Stickman, Pip and Posy as well as countless others. He'll be meeting little fans and signing books at this sweet bookshop in the village. Follow with a stroll (downhill) to the wonderful Highgate Wood.

There are not many fundraising running events in which all the participants are dressed as apes. This one covers seven miles and takes in most of the landmarks so is pleasant to watch, and undoubtably rather toasty to participate in. If you want to sponsor a Gorilla or team, you can do so here.

An original fairytale with a nod to Grimm's style darkness. A story about a boy without a heart and a Professor with a broken one. With a piano accompaniment, it's a tender tale about love and friendship and was a big hit at The Edinburgh Fringe. Messy play sessions after the shows on Saturday.

As an event intended for over 18's (kids permitted with adults), this is a great opportunity for young fashionistas to spend time with a fashion forward over 18 admiring next season's trends, watching a few fashion shows and even a bit of shopping. Pop into Fernandez & Wells for great snacks.

A venue more often known for it's live music and DJ acts is welcoming youngsters for an afternoon of gags and laughter. Kids participate in old classics such as musical statues and word games until everyone is rolling around in fits of giggles
