This annual end of summer festival is back with circus performances, bands, films, acrobatics, classic boats, crafting, mini beasts, dance, barge races and much more; all happening in Central London, with a huge firework finale on Sunday evening. See map here.

This is a perfect time of year to row a boat along the Thames and a very 'Wind in the Willows' way of spending an afternoon. The temperature is pleasant and the Thames is calm. Bring a tasty picnic or pop into the teahouse at Petersham Nurseries for delicious treats.

The games have been a huge success but as all good things, the glory is coming to an end. On Monday, over 800 of Britain's fabulous athlete's shall be travelling on floats in a Victory Parade as a final Hurrah. Not exactly school-time friendly, but a great opportunity to see the athletes for little ones not in class.

A delightful sanctuary in the city, and in addition to all the furred and feathered critters, Stepney City Farm have a sparkly new barn and arts centre and they are throwing a party to celebrate. Crafting activities, animal handling, tours, music, beehive building and lots of food.

If you lack answers to the question 'What kind of bird is that', join Birdbrain David Darrell-Lambert at Victoria Park for an investigative tour of feathered creatures in the area. Visit the excellent Pavilion Cafe as well (the 'perfect' park cafe).

An adaptation of Shakespeare's comedy likely to appeal to fans of the bard, young and old. Performed on the utterly charming, rickety theatre barge by talented marionette puppeteers. Currently moored in Richmond with performance of 'Brer Rabbit Visits Africa' also on for audiences aged 3+.

An imaginative event explored via films, art and music inspired by Primrose Hill and Regent's Park and made by children, teens and local older people. There will be a BBQ but picnics are welcome and don't forget blankets to wrap up in.
